Join us in celebrating the 200th birthday of this timeless tragedy with a faithful new stage rendering of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Victor is a brilliant young chemist whose reckless appetite for scientific knowledge and notoriety drives him to folly and—in classic tragic form—destruction. No less a casualty of Victor’s hubris is the living specimen he creates and abandons—a hulk of reanimated human flesh that is both man and monster. Yearning for the nurture and love of his creator only to be discarded with horror, Victor’s monster pursues him across mountains and frozen seas to the very end of the earth.
Remaining true to the spirit and language of Shelley’s Frankenstein, this play contains moments of intense emotion and suspense. Additionally, the death and violence inherent in the novel’s plot will be depicted in dramatic—though not graphic—form.
Adapted by Keith Smith from the novel by Mary Shelley
Poster design by Daniella Napolitano
